Merry Christmas all! Please read!

Merry Christmas Year 12s, in my haste I gave you the A2 evaluation questions (wishful thinking) instead of the AS ones.

Therefore, please see the longer list of questions below-remember, I would like you to make notes on each of these questions before you get back.

  • In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

  • How does your media product represent particular social groups?

  • What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

  • Who would be the audience for your media product?

  • How did you attract/address your audience?

  • What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

  • Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Thanks and hope you have a relaxing Christmas break

Evaluation/ Homework

Hello all,

I will be back to teaching you twice a week again next half term (sorry!)

This means, weekly homework again and penalty points if it isn't completed. I have written the evaluation questions below that you will need to complete post production, however, for homework, I would like you to consider the questions and bring notes for each question to the first lesson back with me.

Your blogs are looking great!

So, for Christmas break please ensure that you have:
 - Completed research and planning (all tasks)
- Caught up with any work/ production diaries that you have missed
- Wrote notes for the evaluation questions below.

For you January mock exams, it will be centred around your evaluation so please complete the necessary work above. Also, your research and planning will be marked in January!  Have a great holiday, Miss BecklesHead of Media Studies

Please see the next post with the correct evaluation questions!

Sorry!

Research and Planning tasks

Dear year 12s,

All Planning and Research tasks will need to be uploaded to the blog by Friday this week for marking and feedback by myself and Miss Beckles.  Well done on all of the work you have done so far with moodboards, flatplans etc.  A few general points:

- Your moodboards need to include lots of examples of existing magazin covers/contents pages/double page spreads in your genre.

- You also need to upload a supporting statement alongside your moodboard/s explaining which ideas/styles/conventions you will use and how/why

you will need 2-3 digital flatplans of cover/contens page/double page spread in total show a range of ideas.  Ideally the 2-3 flatplans should show a development of your ideas.

I will be able to talk you through any of this tomorrow during the lesson.

Also, lookout for your homework task that will be posted by Miss Beckles at some point before Friday this week.  It will be to do with self-evaluation of the research and planing work you have done.

Marked final production work

Please find below the slideshare of the work that we looked at today. Can you work out why the work was given the marks?

Mr Barlow's absence

Hello all,

As you are aware Mr Barlow isn't in, this does not mean that you have nothing to do. In his absence I have a long list of tasks for you to complete.

1. Buy a music magazine that is from your chosen genre e.g. Kerrang, Q, Rollingstones etc.

2. Read all of the posts and advice from my training last week.

3. Complete 2 digital flat plans and explanations for your final product with full annotations of potential layout choices.

4. Create a mood board/ choose your favourite/ inspiring front covers, content's page and double page spread and explain how they have inspired your final product.

5. Link ALL of your research and planning to your final product.

6. Ensure that you have a range of pictures for your final product including a range of costumes, backgrounds, positioning, props etc.

7. Do indepth analysis of your research and ensure that it's linked to your final product.

If I think of anything else then I will post it, it's VERY, VERY, VERY important that you read the blog reguarly for updates and complete all of the above as well as anything else that you are missing out on your blog.

Many Thanks, Sorry to those who were talked at for an hour today, I just wanted you to have all of the relevant information.

Miss Beckles.

P.S. I will also share the material that was given to us from the exam board- the contruction of your final product is out of 60marks.
